The Richland County Explorer Post 601 will be hosting the annual SCALE 2010 Competition from July 19-24 2010. The SCALE 2010 will consist of one week of individual and team events relating to law enforcement activities. The purpose in hosting this competition is to bring all Explorer posts together throughout the state to work together as a team, communicate effectively, and to allow explorers to apply what they have learned in their Explorer Post. We welcome Law Enforcement Explorer Posts throughout South Carolina and from neighboring states.

 Information

 The South Carolina Association of Law Enforcement Explorers known as SCALE was formed in 1979 with the desire to enhance Law Enforcement Exploring in South Carolina. The competition is hosted every year by a law enforcement agency in South Carolina. Each year, we have explorer posts from South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Virginia that come together and participate in the competition.

 Individual Events: SC Incident Report Writing, Firearms, Physical Agility, Traffic Collision Report, Legal Knowledge test

Team Events: Active Shooter, Officer Down, Crime Scene Investigation, Crisis Intervention, Drug Search Warrant, Unknown Risk Traffic Stop, Escape Inmate

 Location

 Team and individual events will be held at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, SC and various locations throughout Richland County.

 Cost

 The SCALE competition fee is $275 per Explorer post (in state) and $325 per Explorer post (out-of-state).  All Explorer posts must have an active charter with the Boy Scouts of America in order to compete. All Explorer posts are responsible for their own meals and lodging.  Information on hotels and restaurants will be provided in competition packets.

 All forms and packets will be posted on our Explorer Post 601 website. Due to limited slots for Explorer Posts participating in the competition, anyone who is interested in participating must first send an email to explorerpost601@rcsd.net expressing an interest and access to competition packets will be granted (if there is space available for your team)
