Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Hykeem Dontavious Jabar Golson (DOB: 01/11/1995) for Ill Treatment of Animals Felony; Golson set fire to an 8-10 week old Pitbull puppy. The Sheriff stated that Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators arrested Golson on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at his residence in Wellsprings Apartments located at 500 Harbison Boulevard, 29212.
The Sheriff stated that Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the parking lot of Grace United Methodist Church located at 410 Harbison Boulevard, 29212 on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at approximately 7:00 PM in reference to a puppy being set on fire. The Sheriff stated that deputies discovered the puppy severely burned; deputies immediately rushed the puppy to an Animal Hospital on Fernandina Road, 29212, where the puppy succumbed to its wounds.
The Sheriff stated that Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators identified Golson from questioning witnesses and acquaintances. The Sheriff stated Golson used accelerant and other materials to set the puppy on fire.
Sheriff Leon Lott reminds the community that our pets need to be properly cared for and treated with love because they are a part of our families; we should take pride in caring for them. The Sheriff stated that Golson has been transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
