The Richland County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate fraudulent incidents that occur, and Sheriff Leon Lott reminds citizens of ways to keep yourself and your accounts safe. The Sheriff reminds citizens to pay close attention to your bank statements, be sure to keep credit cards in a secure location, and be mindful of who may be looking over your shoulder when using your credit cards.
The Sheriff is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted for fraud. The Sheriff stated that the suspect used a stolen credit card to make a purchase at Verizon Wireless located at 331 Killian Road, 29203, on Sunday, October 23, 2016. The suspect purchased two iPhone 7s valued at approximately $860.00 each.
The Sheriff stated that the suspect was captured on surveillance video (image attached to release). The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s wearing khaki shorts, a light blue shirt, and flip flops.
Sheriff Leon Lott is asking for assistance in identifying the suspect. To receive up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible, please call, email or text your anonymous tip to: Crimestoppers at 1-888-crimesc, or text “TIPSC plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).
