RCSD Seeks Benjamin Kearse for Shoplifting and Assault 

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is requesting the community’s assistance in locating Benjamin Kearse (DOB: 02/14/1964) wanted for three counts of shoplifting and assault. 

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Kearse is wanted for shoplifting numerous Polo shirts and jackets valued at approximately $1,400 from Belk located at 670 Promenade Place, 29229, on three separate incidents:

Sunday, October 2, 2016, Kearse stole seven Polo shirts valued at approximately $650.00

Wednesday, October 5, 2016, Kearse stole two sports jackets valued at approximately $270.00 

Friday, October 28, 2016, Kearse stole two Polo shirts and two Polo jackets valued at approximately $500.00 

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Kearse assaulted the victim (employee) when fleeing the location; Kearse pushed the victim causing the victim’s finger to break. Kearse was captured on surveillance video, which assisted investigators with his identity (image below).
