Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today the investigation into nine burglaries that have occurred over the course of the last five weeks where someone has forced entry into area businesses and stolen cigarettes. Sheriff Lott stated that investigators are currently searching for the person (s) responsible for these burglaries and the Sheriff released video surveillance photographs of the suspects who are prying open the front doors of the businesses and fleeing with cartons of cigarettes. Investigators believe that the burglaries are linked because of what the suspect(s) take and by how they gain entry and that thousands of dollars of cigarettes have been stolen from these locations :
Anyone with information on the identity of those responsible or the location of the stolen items is asked to call 888-559-tips or 888-CRIME-SC or go to www.sccrimestoppers.com to receive a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible or the recovery of the stolen goods in these cases and any crime.
