Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy Rides for the Cause with Carolina Brotherhood

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is proud to announce that the Richland County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the 5th annual Carolina Brotherhood Ride sponsored by Carolina Brotherhood, Inc.; an organization that provides emotional and financial support for families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty throughout the Carolinas. The ride started on Monday, June 12, 2017 beginning in Southern Pines, NC and will come through Columbia, SC on June 16th , making a ceremony stop around 5:00PM on Park and Pendleton Street and staying overnight at Dreher High School located at 3319 Millwood Avenue. The ride will then be ending in Beaufort, SC on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

Carolina Brotherhood, Inc. was established in 2012 and continues to support families of first responders who tragically made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Dozens of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel from both North and South Carolina are participating in the over 600 mile bicycle ride in order to raise funds for families of fallen first responders. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that this year, Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Specialist Corporal James Abraham will be making the ride in honour of fallen Forest Acres Officer Greg Alia, killed in the line of duty on September 30, 2015 leaving behind a loving wife and son.

The participants in the Carolina Brotherhood Ride are truly dedicated to supporting those families of their fallen brothers. Donations can be made at www.carolinabrotherhood.com.
