RCSD Responds to Home Invasion

Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a home invasion in progress at just after 11:00pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 531 Hiller Road, Chapin.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that once deputies arrived they located the victim and Keith Dominick (DOB: 02/25/1964) in the bedroom of the residence. Dominick was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff stated that this is a case of domestic violence, where the victim and Dominick were formally involved in a relationship. Dominick forced entry into the home by breaking the glass of the front door and while doing so, severely cut his arm in the process. Once inside, Dominick presented a gun and threatened the victim who fled to the bedroom. Dominick followed, and a physical altercation ensued with the victim knocking the gun out of his hand. Dominick attempted to retrieve the weapon and the victim struggled to keep him from it. The victim climbed on top of Dominick to restrain him and not allow him to get to it. The victim feared if he was able to reach the gun he would kill her.
