Richland County Gets Felony Conviction In Animal Cruelty Case

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced that Latisha Todd (DOB: 07/04/1982) was charged with four counts of Ill treatment of animals. 

On Thursday, July 20, 2017 the Richland County Fifth Circuit Solicitors Office and Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators working together, obtained a guilty verdict. The trial lasted four days and after deliberation, the jury found Todd guilty on all four counts. Todd now awaits sentencing and faces up to five years in prison on each felony count.    

In early June of 2016 at 608 Scarsdale Drive, Columbia, Todd left the state of South Carolina to visit relatives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Todd left four dogs in a bedroom with no water, food, electricity, or air conditioning. On July 3, 2016 a family member entered the residence and found all four dogs deceased.   

The Sheriff stated that Todd has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor as she awaits sentencing.
