RCSD Seeks Suspect(s) for Murder

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is requesting the community’s assistance in locating a suspect(s) wanted for murder.

On Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at approximately 4:30 AM, a 20 year-old female was dropped off at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased. Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators discovered that the victim’s boyfriend placed the victim in a wheel chair, took her into the hospital, and fled the location. 

Sheriff Leon Lott states that investigators are following up on tips but more information is needed in this case. The victim’s boyfriend, Albertus Lewis (DOB: 03/13/1993), has been charged with obstruction of justice and transported to Alvin S Glenn Detention Center. Lewis faces additional charges with the Columbia Police Department.  

Sheriff Lott urges anyone with information about this incident to come forward. The Sheriff added that anyone providing information may remain anonymous. To receive up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible, please call, email, or text your anonymous tip to:
