Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today the arrest of Charles Deveaux (DOB 10-31-53) in connection with the criminal sexual conduct on a minor. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the ten year old victim in this case reported, on June 22, 2008, to her mother that she was sexually assaulted by her step-father Deveaux. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the mother reported the assault to the Sheriff’s Department and investigators from the Sheriff’s Department and Assessment Resource Center determined that the ten year old was indeed sexually assaulted by Deveaux, who is a Correction Officer at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Deveaux turned himself in to investigators today at 1PM, charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor-victim under 11 years of age – first degree and booked in to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
