Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today the arrest of two people for murder. Sheriff Lott stated that on July 17, 2008 Kenyatta D. Banister (D.O.B. 11/30/90) and Wilber D. Guider (D.O.B.7/17/89) were arrested and charged in connection with the murder on 167 Rice Meadow Circle that occurred on June 20, 2008. As the investigation developed, leads from the community revealed that Banister and Guider were at the location where the murder took place. Guider was questioned from the beginning of the investigation and attempted to lead investigators down the wrong path by lying about being at the incident location -- subsequently he was charged with obstruction of Justice on June 25, 2008. As a result of the hard work by investigators, the Sheriff’s Department was able to determine that Banister and Guider were directly involved in this Murder. The two suspects (who are brothers) met the victim for the purposes of conducting a drug transaction when Guider and Banister got into an argument with the victim. The victim was shot multiple times with a handgun and fled the scene in a white and silver sedan.
